What is Hydroseeding?

Hydroseeding is a grass-seeding technique that uses water, mulch (like paper cellulose), and seed to create a slurry that is sprayed onto the lawn. Hydroseeding has the benefit of retaining moisture and preventing erosion by using mulch, tackifiers, and polymers, while also being easy to apply.

Pros

  • Unlike sod, we can work with you to choose a custom seed blend that is best suited for your property conditions

  • Our process gives you high-quality turf at a fraction of the price of sod

  • A hydroseeded yard is more disease resistant than sod because we use a mixture of seed versus one variety

  • Hydroseeding provides faster and more uniform results than hand seeding

  • The mulching material we use helps to retain moisture during the germination process which facilitates faster and more consistent germination

  • Hydroseeding is a great option after significant yard damage like septic installation, tree work, or landscape removal

Cons

  • A newly hydroseeded lawn requires proper maintenance and watering in the first month to ensure the seed is established. See our Care Instructions for more info.

  • Similar to any newly seeded lawn, there can be competition from weed seeds that already exist in the soil

  • Like hand seeding, spring and fall seedings will see the highest success rates

Hydroseeding has many benefits that can make it worthwhile for nearly any application, we are happy to answer any additional questions that you may have. We know that there are many available options when choosing how to seed your lawn and we appreciate you considering Harmony Hydroseeding.
